Orbital Gear Weapons

We have been working with some of the weapons design. Mostly we aim to use them in a weapon reel for the upcomming trailer, but they will also be put in the game for presentation when browsing the weapon list. These are four of the twelve weapons in Orbital Gear:

Pulse Rifle

Pulse Rifle – Indie DB
The Pulse Rifle fires energy orbs that explodes on impact. Its projectile also has a tail that damages any opponent traveling through it.

Hornets
Hornets in Orbital Gear – Indie DB
The Hornet is a rocket launcher that fires homing missiles. It is not that powerful but still enough to finish off wounded enemies.

Chaingun
Orbital Gear Chaingun – Indie DB
No shooter would be complete without the ability to rain down thousands of bullets on your opponent. The Chain Gun does just that.

Nail Gun
Nail Gun – Indie DB
The Nail Gun can shoot down projectiles and knock back enemies. Average speed but high impact damage, it’s one perfect weapon for defense as well as offence.

We’re working on getting the game ready for beta and will hopefully have it available for testing soon.

Streaming

We had our first stream on twitch today! We peaked with 19 viewers watching and five of them where us ^_^

Streaming something looks easier that it seems, especially when you are five people who are in the stream at the same time. It was a little bit of a nerve racking experience for all of us. It was a fun experience and something we definitely do every Thursday from now on.

We only broadcasted for an hour and at the end of the stream we started to relax more and got into explaining the development side of the game and showing how the levels where created. If there is something that you want us to talk more about or explain please don’t hesitate telling us, just hit us up on either twitter, facebook or send an email.

We can’t wait until next Thursday! Hope to see you there!

Alphatest at Dragon’s Lair!

Back to work again!

We’ve been back to work for a week now. Well, most of us anyway. Anton was stuck at the airport in Australia a little longer than he or we would have wanted him to. We’ve been preparing for the alpha testing that will happen the 15th January at Dragon’s Lair in Stockholm.
So if you are in Stockholm on the 15th make sure to sign up now for the testing here http://www.dragonslair.se/evenemang/?6907 it’s in Swedish, if you want to join the alpha testing without using the form, send an email to testing@nightnode.se).

If you can’t make it to the alpha testing but want to try the game early, you can sign up for the beta at orbitalgear.com.

Moving forward in 2014.

Thinking back on 2013, it was a great year. We’d been working at another company where we felt that we didn’t really have the opportunity to do what we wanted anymore and decided to start a new. This is how and why Night Node came to be, perhaps the greatest thing that happened to us all through the whole year.

Things are starting to get right on track. We secured necessary investments allowing us to actually complete Orbital Gear, as well as allowing us to avoid starvation. We also got contacted by Google, where we are now a strategic marketing partner and got on the develop’s 100 most exciting video game start-ups. Great things are happening for sure.

There is still a lot of work to be done, but overall 2014 looks like it’s going to be an awesome year. Not to mention that Orbital Gear will be released sometime in spring.

Happy new year from all of us at Night Node!

Gamex 2013

Greeting and salutations fellow humans!

So on Friday we took a trip to Gamex to check out the scene ^_^ So what did we do at Gamex? Stand in line of course! After all it is a video game convention. The indie games they had at the Square booth where great. It’s fun to see the creativity of our fellow indie game studios. Vic Bassey was the man that setup the Square booth. We must say that we are impressed and thankful with what he has doing for the Swedish indie game scene. Here are some pictures 😀

One less lead designer.

So today our lead designer aka GFX guy got sick 🙁 It’s funny how the mood of the office changes when one person is away. Time has gone by much slower today without Crylar. So we can’t wait to have him back in the office working on the game and making it beautiful.

Get better soon Crylar!

Maybe this video will help out! it’s both cute and educational.

Project Gravity Update.

Oh hello again.

Last week right about when we were leaving the office we got the multiplayer up and running 🙂 It’s far from done but it’s fun to see that you can play against each other. There is a lot of work to be done before we can release any kind of playable content to the public, but that day will come.

Here is a video of Binarin and Crylar trying out the multiplayer.

Today we have tried out the game with a controller and it feels great! Both Mowhammer and Crylar are huge console gamers so that was a little childhood dream of theirs to play the game they made make with a ps3 controller.

No case of the Mondays here 😀

Trying out the new updates!

So we have been working hard to get the Mech to work in the game and we have finally got it to work ^_^ No more cube! It’s so rad how everything changed when you have a character that moves in the game instead of a cube.

We also encountered a bug with the camera during the testing of the game!

Here is a video of the Mech in action!!
